He has one, relatively speaking, big win. That was a (TKO) in round (1) over Leshaun Blair back in
August of this year. His next outing will take place at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium on Long Wall Road in Philipsburg, St. Maarten on the “THIS IS IT WAR” Boxing Card presented by Bose Promotion /Co- promotion Elton Dharry promotion.
Elton Dharry will come up against another youngster named Jose Rios, 13-1-1 (6 KOs) from Nicaragua. Dharry will go through what most young fighters must go through; he’ll be facing a skillful hard hitting opponent who he has never seen fight before. He was informed about his style, somewhat, but it’s not the same as two named fighters facing each other, knowing exactly who and what kind of fighter the other guy is. It’s a rite of passage; a part of the journey that a fighter must endure.
Elton Dharry believes that one day he will know who he is facing when he becomes the world champion and he fully believes he will be the champion. After his first nine encounters his record stood at a dismal 3-5-1 (1 KO), then he ran off three wins in a row, including the Kadem fight.
Now his record looks a little brighter at 16-wins 5-loses -1- draw (10 KOs). What has changed for Elton Dharry? Was it a change in style, attitude, what?”My early fights were short notice fights,” explained Dharry. “Even if I deserved the win, it was difficult to get it. Now I get enough time to prepare.
Now I’m fully prepared and I know that no matter what happens I’m going out and fight really hard to prove that I’m really a champion to be reckoned with, wins, not making it a close fight where the judges say, okay, it’s a close fights so I’ll give it to the favorite.”
While he claims that he has improved as a fighter, these wins happened, he said, because he is well conditioned and ready.”I’m well trained I gain a lot more confidence,” added Elton Dharry. “I usually go in there and I am thinking if I don’t knock this guy out and it goes the distance that I’m going to get robbed.
Now I have more confidence and I don’t feel like I have to go in and knock someone out to win.” It’s all about hit and don’t get hit, better defence.”Dharry currently trains at the famed Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn, New York under Head Trainer Martin Gonzales, Second Trainer Lennox Blackmore, and Strength and Conditioning Coach Neuky Santelises. He is managed by Jen Masters and Pearl Shiv under Elton Dharry Promotions.
Now considering that a bantamweight fighter weighs only 118 pounds, Dharry must be tough. Regardless of his diminutive stature, he claims that he always won after many scraps during his time in school. After watching some amateur boxing with his dad he decided that it was something that he could do. After doing well as an amateur going 20-4, he turned pro.”I was always in fights on the street and at school,” said Dharry. “And I always won them.
Then I saw some fights on TV and I wasn’t so impressed. They box and get paid for it, I was like, ‘dam I could beat them.’”In his amateur days he fought in the US Nationals, the Metro finals, and the Olympic box-offs in 2003 and 2004. He turned pro at the end of 2004 with a six round unanimous decision over Mark Fernandes. His nickname is an unusual one. He’s called “The Real Coolie Bully”.
He explained that by saying that it means that he is a very tough Indian fighter. On Saturday night December 6th, 2914 at the L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium he will have the chance to extend that win streak and prove that he truly is “The Real Coolie Bully.” 16-win 5-loses -1- draw (10 KOs). When facing the slick hard hitting Nicaraguan Jose Rios with a outstanding record of 13 wins 1-loss 1-draw with (6 KO.s).Co-main event on this card will the IBO Vacant female Heavyweight belt for grab by Carllette “The truth Ewell vs Sonya “The Scholar” Lamonakis.
