On Monday due to quick action by the Police in Berbice they were able to intercept a car that was carrying three men who were suspected to have robbed a Cambio dealer earlier in the day at Rosignol, West Bank Berbice.
It was revealed that around noon the Cambio dealer was in the process of conducting business when the three men who were armed with a shotgun and knives pounced on the man and relieved him of cash.
After the robbery, the men boarded a waiting vehicle in their escape bid. Meanwhile, the police were informed and mounted a roadblock at Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice where the men were intercepted.
A shotgun suspected to have been used during the robbery was recovered in the vehicle.
The men were arrested and placed in custody. The suspected getaway car is also in custody at the Fort Wellington Police Station.
The men are suspected to be from Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara, Albouystown in Georgetown and Vreed en Hoop, West Demerara.
Investigations are ongoing and charges are likely to be laid soon.
