Athletes and Gym Owners briefed

With the aim of giving the audience something to talk about for the next year after
this year’s International Flex Night at the National Cultural Centre on Sunday December 7, athletes, gym owners and the media were briefed on what is expected of them by the organisers at Olympic House, High Street, yesterday afternoon.
According to Executive Director of Flex Night, Donald Sinclair, he informed that the athletes were given all the information that they would require too assist in their preparation for Flex Night 2014.
“We talked about the categories, the prizes, the competitors from other gyms and other information that they would need to enhance their own preparations. We were very pleased with the turn out and we know that word would reach other gyms.”
Sinclair and team said that they are leaving no stones unturned to ensure that fans get their monies worth come December 7. He would be in neighboring Suriname today to attend a meeting with the Suriname Bodybuilding Federation.
“The Surinamese will be having their event on November 29 to select their team for Flex Night Guyana, they are planning big.”
Flex Night Berbice, an annual event is set for Saturday November 15 at Skeldon, Upper Corentyne; last year it was held at Port Mourant.
The event is being organised by Mr. Linden Murray assisted by Flex Night Berbice Coordinator, Rahim Ali.
“Gyms from New Amsterdam, Central and Upper Corentyne will be taking part. Activities start at 18:00hrs and we believe that it is going to be a good show for all Berbicians to attend and enjoy.”
The categories that will be contested on the night of December 7 are Male: Men’s Physique (Open); Bodybuilding – Under 143lbs (64.8kgs), Under 154lbs (69.8kgs), Under 165lbs (74.8kgs), Under 176lbs (79.8kgs), Over 176lbs (79.8kgs+). The Male evenets will be pre-judged.
Female: Short class (Under5ft. 4ins. – 162.6cms), Tall Class (over 5ft.4ins. – 162.6cms), Miss Best Legs (Open).
Registration will close on Saturday November 22 while Pre-judging will commence at 09:00hrs on December 7 with the finals flexing off at 18:00hrs on the same day. Information packages were distributed to all present yesterday.
