The October sessions of the Essequibo Criminal Assizes opened on Tuesday, with a simple
ceremony to acknowledge the installation of presiding Judge, Justice Franklin Holder, at the Suddie High Court. The activity which culminated with a parade and march past by ranks of ‘G’ Division was held on the Lawns of the Richard Fikhal Police College, at Suddie.
The simple ceremony was attended by Parmanand Persaud, Region Two Chairman.
Justice Holder took the salute from Divisional Commander of ‘G’ Division, Kevin Adonis.
The October sessions will feature 19 cases. There are five murders, one attempted murder, one rape of a girl under sixteen years, two incest and nine adult rape cases.
A murder trial which had started earlier was adjourned to November 4.
