The Faculty of Social Sciences raced away with the 2014 University of Guyana (UG)
annual Inter-Faculty Track and Field Championships on Saturday against strong performances from its seasoned athletes at the Turkeyen Campus.
Social Sciences amassed 166 points to top Natural Sciences, which was second with 120 points, edging Health Sciences on 118 points. The Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry finished fourth with 98 points, while UG Tain Campus in Berbice was fifth with 89 points.
The Faculty of Technology finished sixth with 63 points, while The School of Education and Humanities was seventh on 60 points. The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences came in the cellar position with 33 points.
Local distance running ace, Cleveland Forde was Champion Boy with 30 points from winning the 800m, 1500m and 5000m events. Kezia Bess and Tain Campus’ Kenisha Lashley were both adjudged Champion Girl with 26 points apiece.
Bess won the 200m and 400m races and placed third in the 100m while Lashley won the 5000m and 1500m and placed third in the 800m.
