Police have detained the husband of 25-year-old Marissa Jabbar, who was shot in the stomach under mysterious circumstances on Friday night at her Freeman Street, East La Penitence home.
Kaieteur News understands that Jabbar’s spouse was taken into custody yesterday after he turned up at the East La Penitence Police Station, accompanied by an Attorney.
Kaieteur News understands that he is a policeman who has been interdicted from duty.
According to a source, the injured woman identified her alleged shooter after police interviewed her at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
The police were reportedly told that a male associate of Jabbar’s walked up to her at around 23.00 hrs on Friday and said, “Girl I love you, but I have to do this”, before shooting her.
Some neighbours claimed they overheard the victim and a man arguing before hearing gunshots. Shortly after, a resident reportedly saw Jabbar run out of her house while clutching at her stomach. The source said that the woman’s husband took her to the GPHC in a taxi.
But according to reports, police were also told that two masked men shot Jabbar shortly after she came home with her husband,
Her condition is listed as stable.
