After a narrow loss by a 2-3 margin to the home team in Badminton on Saturday at the KNTS – Chinese Sporthall, the Guyanese failed to reverse their fortunes and lost by a 1-4 margin on the final day of the Inter Guiana Games second-leg in Paramaribo, Suriname yesterday.
Captain, Narayan Ramdhani team up with his sister Priyanna to deliver Guyana’s only win on the day in the Mixed Doubles clash which was the final game of the day. They defeated the Surinamese pair of Sanhisha Ramzan and Alric Toney 22-20, 14-21, 21-15.
Earlier, Jonathan Mangra lost to Patrick Vigelandzoon in the Boys’ Singles. Mangra won the first set 21-14 but lost the remaining two, 17-21, 15-21.
Priyanna Ramdhani lost her Girls’ Singles game to Shemara Lintveld 18-21, 13-21. Mangra and Narayan Ramdhani were defeated in the Boys’ Doubles at 15 and 14 by Alric Toney and Kevin Zou, while in the Girls’ Doubles, Ambika Ramraj and Krystal Peters lost to Lintveld and Ramzan 4-21, 7-21. Guyana lost 4-1 overall.
Coach Gokarn Ramdhani in summing up his charges performances over the two days said that the exposure was good for all especially Ramraj and Peters. Apart from individual development, Ramdhani also noted that competing at this level also serves to develop the players at the Regional level.
