Canada ODI pacer Jeremy Gordon included
The first four-day practice match for the Guyana Jaguars cricket squad is scheduled to start at 09:30hrs today at the World famous Bourda as the team step up preparations for the inaugural West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Professional Cricket League Regional Four-Day Franchise Tournament which starts on November 14.
According to Chairman of selectors Rayon Griffith another four-day practice game is fixed for next week before the 15-man squad is name for Guyana’s opening match against the Leeward Islands at Providence.
Berbice fast bowler Jeremy Gordon, who has played First-Class cricket for both Guyana and Canada, has been included in today’s practice game although according to a Cricket Guyana Inc (CGI) official, he is not eligible for Guyana selection. He is however expected to give the batsman a good workout with his lively pace.
Gordon, who bowled with pace in the Guyana Jaguars first net session on Friday, made his First-Class debut against the Leeward Islands at Albion in 2007 and has played three First-Class matches for Guyana. Gordon’s other two First-Class games and his five ODIs have been for his adopted country
The 27-year-old Gordon who last represented Canada in February in the ICC 2015 World Cup 50 Qualifiers in New Zealand and all players selected for today’s match are asked to be at the ground at 08:00hrs.
