Attendees are in store for a whirlwind of glamour, entertainment and spectacle
at tonight’s Miss Guyana Universe Coronation Ceremony.
It has been a long road for these ladies, from nights of tedious practicing, to debutant galas, to candid interview sessions; all leading to the pinnacle of Guyanese pageantry at the Pegasus Poolside, which is slated to begin from 20:00 hours.
Vying for tonight’s crown will be reigning Miss Jamzone International Soyini Fraser, Former Miss Guyana Universe contestant Niketa Barker, US-based Guyanese Jyoti Hardat, Alicia Kirton, Sonia Cummings, Cardella Hamilton, Rochelle Cheddie Lakota McPhoy and Shonette Cain.
The long awaited event will have regular tickets on sale for $3000 with VIP tickets selling at $6000.
This past Tuesday, the delegates were part of a televised get-to-know interview session, where the public had the chance to get a peak at the personalities of the ladies. Following the telecast, people soon started to voice who their favourite candidates were, with Jyoti Hardat and Niketa Barker coming out on top as social media’s hopeful winners.
However this does not guarantee that the winner of tonight’s event will be either of those two contestants as the competitors will be decided by a fair and objective panel of expertise judges.
The delegates will not be the only ones dominating the stage at tonight’s ceremony, as patrons can expect an exciting performance from Trinidadian Soca sensation Kes the Band. Local entertainers will include Malo and Tennicia DeFreitas who also plan to captivate audiences with their renditions.
In addition to singers, attendees can expect enchanting dance performances from the Ishara Dance Troupe and the Classique Dance Company. Stilt walkers, fire eaters and other electrifying forms of entertainment are promised, adding to the alluring pageantry that the organizers have planned.
The Miss Guyana Universe Pageant is an annual event that will have delegates compete in swimwear, evening wear and intelligence segments. The winner will not only receive US$10,000 but will also have the chance to represent Guyana at the 63rd Miss Universe pageant on January 25, 2015 in Doral, Florida.
