Lewis, Mohamed, Bhola slam 50s
Malteenoes SC and Everest Cricket Club recorded victories when action the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/New Building Society (NBS) second division 40-over tournament continued yesterday.
At Malteenoes SC, the host overcame Sophia by 10 wickets. Batting first, the visitors were sent packing for 105 in 23 overs. Zalim Rasheed led with 30, Gareth Allen made 23 and Dwayne Peters 16. Shaquille Moseley grabbed 4-15 off eight overs and Mark Cumberbatch 3-29. MSC knocked off the required target in nine overs, ending 108 without loss. Troy Lewis stroked 54 (3×4,4×6) and Nikosie Barker 43 (4×4,3×6).
At Muslim Youth Organisation, Everest thumped Third Class by a mammoth 162 runs. Everest posted 236 all out in 39.1 overs. Shaheed Mohamed slammed 56 (5×4,1×6), Manjrekar Bhola cracked 54 (5×4,1×6) and Denesh Mangal 30 (6×4). Trevor Hossein claimed 3-37, Pablo Ghisiawan 2-42 and Kapil Deosingh 2-46.
Third Class were skittled for 74 in 18.4 overs in reply. Kevin Bob Semple made 24; Christopher Surat bagged 5-13, Raphael Singh 2-16 and Kishan Singh 2-21.
