Ahead of the Guyana National Rifle Association (GNRA) year end shoot which is set for November 2nd,
8th and 9th, the local marksmen have been showing ominous form. At last Sunday’s recorded shoot held at the Timehri Rifle and Pistol Ranges, Ransford Goodluck won at the 300, 500 and 900 yards ranges to emerge as the top shot.
National Captain Mahendra Persaud placed second with reigning local and Caribbean champion Lennox Braithwaite coming in third. It was not all easy sailing for the competitors as the winds were switching from left to right and caught many of the shooters in the aim.
There was bright sunlight, excellent for shooting.
Shooters used the shoot as practice in preparation for the national yearend Championship which will be held on November 2, 8 and 9. Those using the activity as practice were Richard and Dylan Fields, Peter Persaud and Colin Loncke.
Another recorded shoot at the 300, 600 and 900 Yards Ranges is set for this Sunday at 10:00hrs.
Meanwhile, The GNRA has started preparations for their 150th Anniversary which will be held in 2017. Letters have been sent out to the major international shooting clubs in Canada, England, Australia and many of the English clubs have already responded in the affirmative.
Following are the scores and placing for last weekend’s Recorded Shoot:
