Specialist emerged champions of the Faye Joseph and Seven Collymore dominoes tournament when they overcame
TNT and Providence in the final played on Sunday night last at Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt.
Specialist marked 89 games while TNT took the runner up spot with 72 ahead of Providence on 69. Andrew Mendonca and Paul Lewis chalked up 15 games each for Specialist while Ryan Boodhoo scored 16 and Trevor Smith 14 for TNT.
Eon Davis and Junior Smith made 15 apiece for Providence who drew the bye to the final. Specialist won their semi final encounter with 66 games, TNT placed second on 64 followed by Barbados on 48.
Andrew Young and Andrew Mendonca scored 15 each for the winners while Boodhoo registered 15 and Sonia Goodluck 14 for TNT. Specialist pocketed a trophy and $90,000, TNT received $40,000 and Providence $20,000.
President of the Georgetown Dominoes Association (GDA), Faye Joseph congratulated the winners and thanked the other participating teams. Joseph stated that she is happy with the level of discipline exhibited by the players and informed that a two-in-one-out tournament will be played this Sunday at Turning Point.
Entrance fee is $6,000 and the winning team will take home $60,000, runner-up $30,000 and third place $20,000. Joseph indicated that another competition is slated for October 27 at the GDA Headquarters, Gaulding Place.
