Police are conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of 52-year-old farmer Clifton Clement, of Hiawa Village, Central Rupununi, which occurred at about 01:30 hours yesterday.
The man’s death occurred 11 days after he received a beating that left him unconscious.
According to the police, their investigations have revealed that Clement was allegedly imbibing and was beaten by some men on October 01, 2014, in the vicinity of the Takatu Bridge, Lethem.
He had been admitted to the Lethem Hospital and was subsequently discharged.
The police said that they are awaiting the results of a Post Mortem Examination to ascertain if Clement died as a result of the beating.
