Hill Foot Vipers emerged as winner of the Linden Inter Community Softball Championship squeezing past Kairuni Rising Stars by six runs in a thriller.
Batting first, Hill Foot Vipers were bowled out for 121 in their allotted 12 overs, thanks to Lamtie Hinds’ top score of 34 and Vicky Raghubeer’s 21. Marley Bharrat took 3-26 from 3 overs and Akeem Singh 2-12 in 2 overs for Kairuni who in reply were restricted to 115 all out in 11.1 overs despite Deon Smith’s overall top score of 50. Marley Bharrat made 16.
Narine Looknauth was the main destroyer with 4-22 from 3 overs, Lamtie Hinds capped a fine all-round effort with 3-26 from 3 overs.
In the female segment, Wairuni were declared champions after conquering All Stars Conquerors in a nail biting finish by 3 runs. Batting first after losing the toss, Wairuni posted 115-6 in 12 overs. Stacy Osborne top scored with 32 and Pamela King 30. Patricia Tello took 4-16 from 3 overs for All Stars Conquerors could only manage 112-6.
Charlene Isaacs led with 24 and Akila Castello 16. Amesha Fredericks took 2-16 in 2 overs for the winners.
Stacy Osborne walked away with the award for the highest score in the finals as well as player of the tournament and player of the match trophies. Deon Smith won the trophy for the highest score in the finals.
Lamtie Hinds was named man-of-the-match and man-of-the-tournament and was duly rewarded. Regional Chairman of Region 10, Mr. Sharma Solomon presented the trophies. Meanwhile,
