Yesterday, as part of ‘Customer Service Week’, Courts Guyana took customers back to a “funkier time” where bell-bottom jeans, afros and disco fashion dominated, as staff and a few customers dressed up in the style of the 1970s. Customers, who chose to adorn themselves in the trends from four decades ago, were lucky to receive 10% discounts storewide along with 50% discounts on selected items.
The promotion was held under the name ‘Throwback Thursday,’ a catch phrase popularly featured recently on social media sites, to reference trends of a previous time. The company saw it fit to host the event as a way to not only celebrate its customers, but also as a way to show staff appreciation.
According to the Customer Experience Manager, Shonelle Bacchus, the company believes that enhancing the Courts experience cannot be a process that is solely geared towards pleasing customers but should also include staff members.
With Thursday’s “dressed in retro” event, customers and staff were allowed to partake in the ‘70s party scene, with a live DJ playing all of the top hits from that decade throughout the store, even as customers made their purchases.
In addition to this ‘Throwback Thursday’ event, Public Relations Officer and Promotions Officer, Roberta Ferguson, explained that the staff also participated in team-building exercises that sought to enhance and further promote teamwork.
Events were planned for the duration of the week, according to the PRO, with activities aimed at including all departments of Courts in an effort to strengthen the company’s productivity and build corporation amongst the staff at every level.
Ferguson also elaborated on the other promotions that the company has in store for the public, which included a chance for four customers to win $400,000 cash prizes with any purchase of a Frigidaire appliance, three paint packages and up to $12,000 cash-back with any purchase over $30,000.
The company wants clients to see that “The Christmas Season start with Courts” and that is why they are devoting a lot of their efforts in optimizing the services of their staff and improving the shopping experience for their customers.
