After the completion of several closely contested events ‘A’ House emerged Champions
when the Comenius Primary School Sports two-day ended at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ground, yesterday.
On the first day of the Sports, ‘A’ House finished on top in the Field Events with 130 points at the National Park while ‘C’ House with 118 points took second spot with ‘B’ House finishing third.
‘A’ House maintained their lead in the Track and Novelty Events yesterday with 534 points ahead of ‘B’ House (460 points) and ‘C’ House (423 points) in that order. With a strong breeze blowing across the ground from the Atlantic Ocean and excited screams from the students filling the air in support of their respective Houses, the atmosphere was one of fun and frolic as the sun streamed down from a cloudless sky.
Coordinator of the Event Sharon Waldron-Collymore told Kaieteur Sport that she was satisfied with the event adding that even though the children were very young in age there was lots of athletic talent on show but the most important thing for the pre-teens was that they had fun.
“We got the full support of the Teachers and Parents who helped to provide the lunches for the children while the Head Mistress, Michelle Booker played an important role in ensuring order was in place” Waldron-Collymore informed.
Tokens were presented to the winners and the day was deemed a success by the parents Kaieteur Sport spoke to. It was refreshing to see several fathers among the parents yesterday.
