With race day less than a week away the excitement and preparations have picked up for the feature Kennard Memorial Turf Club PPP/C one day meet set for Sunday at the entities track at Bush Lot Farm Corentyne Berbice.
The 10 race meet has attracted over 70 of the country’s top horses and with close to $8M in prize available and will feature clashes for the President’s Cup and the General Secretary trophy.
The A class event has all the ingredients for a top of the line encounter. Barring C.P Got Even, all the other top horses in Guyana have entered to compete in the main race which will once again feature Score’s Even. However, the question will be, could California Strike of the Shariff Stable repeat its victory over Guyana’s No 1 horse Score’s Even of the Dennis DeRoop Simple Royal Stable or will the ever improving Treacle of the Dookie Stable continue its march forward as they battle for the coveted $1.5 M winner’s pocket from a total package of $2.9M over 1600M.
The supporting cast is also impressive with the likes of Run Nana Run, Princess She is Not, Grande De Roja, Church House, Dark and Lovely and Monsoon looking to get among the money.
The D3 event for non-winners in 2014 and E & Lower for a winning take of $600,000 and trophy over 1400M has such runners as Settle In Seattle, Right To Rule, Young Elite, Appealing Harvest, Run Nana Run, Dark and Lovely, Church House, Settling Jet and Princess Alicia among the lot.
There is now a G1 and lower event, which replaced the F3 and lower 1400M event, with the likes of Damacus Dream, Battle Hymn, Release The Beast, War Craft and Top Of the Line among others battling for the $400,000 and trophy.
Strom Bird heads the list of entries for the two year old West Indies Bred 1000M event as it competes against the likes of Settling Star, Gold D Cova, That Son of a Gun and Midnight Blue for a winner’s money of $300,000and trophy.
The race for G3 non-winners in 2014 will race over 1400M has so far attracted Silent Night, Bridal Stone Corner, Top of the Line, War Craft, and Monsoon for the $300,000 first prize and trophy.
Horses such as Slim Shady, Secret Escape, Miss Messiah, Amazon Warrior and Devil Woman have been entered in the race for Guyana Bred two years old animals which has a first prize of $200,000 and trophy also over 1000M.
The top ‘I’ class horses including Mary Ann, Affinity, East To Win, Savion, Party Time and the Road is Mine will race for a winning take of $220,000 and trophy over 1400M.
The other three traces are all 1000M affairs with the J1 and lower horses competing for winning money of $200,000 and trophy. The event for J3 and lower horses for a top prize of $180,000 and trophy and the K and L event for the winning take of $140,000 and trophy. Among some of the horses entered for the races are Lady Secret, Famous Pride, Royal Cash, Little, Red Jet, Speed Vision, The Road Is Mine, Dance For Gold, Iron man, Royal Intention, Smarty Light, Pick Pocket, Million Dollars Man, Sunny Silence, Swift Way, Royal Stallion, Go Zapper, Fit To Fight and Tripple S.
The top individual performers will be presented with accolades compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy stall Bourda market.
