A Police Constable is presently hospitalised with severe injuries about his body after he crashed the Force’s all-terrain vehicle yesterday on the Puruni Road, about seven miles from the Mazaruni Crossing.
Reports reaching this newspaper stated that at about 13:30 hours, Constable Paul Craigen was riding the ATV, carrying two passengers, when he lost control, causing the vehicle to slam into a minibus.
While the two passengers escaped with minor injuries, Craigen received the brunt of the impact and was rushed to the Bartica Hospital. However, so severe were his injuries that he had to be transported to the GPHC for further medical attention.
Meanwhile, the ATV, which serves the police at Itaballi, is a total write-off.
