A man who police say is wanted in connection with at least two murders and a series of robberies was shot last evening at Friendship, East Bank Demerara. According to reports 29 year old Steven Mohamed was shot as police were conducting a roadblock in the Friendship area.
According to police sources, it was Mohamed who opened fire at the law men. This newspaper understands that the police were able to recover a .38 revolver, three live rounds and two spent shells from the scene of the shooting.
Mohamed was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Center for treatment but was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital. Hospital sources said that Mohamed was shot twice and would require minor surgery. Police sources have indicated that Mohamed was wanted in connection with two interior murders. Investigations are continuing into the incident.
