Windjammer Hotel/Golden Brook/Toney Rugby Sevens League…
Pepsi Hornets remained the only unbeaten team at the end of opening day in the Windjammer Hotel/Golden Brook/Toney Rugby Sevens League which is being played, at the National Park.
Played last Saturday, the Hornets first registered a hard fought 12-7 win over Yamaha Caribs, before returning to hammer the Guyana Defence Force 22-0.
National players Troy Bascombe and Jason Tyrell went over the tryline one each, national Captain Ryan Gonsalves conversion accounted for their tally.
Caribs points came from their inspirational Captain Theo Henry, but his solo efforts were all in vain as no other player was able to duplicate his performance.
Blaise Bailey with three tries, a solitary one from Gonsalves and a conversion from Christopher Singh proved more than enough in their demolition of the Army.
Results of the other three games played are as follows:
GDF 5 vs UG Wolves 31
UG Wolves 7 vs Caribs 29
GPF 5 vs GDF 20
The League resumes this Saturday, at the same venue.
