Dear Editor,
For a few years now I have noticed the school sports have been changing to what some people have deemed to be extreme lawlessness. Most children used to attend in uniforms, but now the type of clothing that is worn, especially by the girls, is of questionable taste.
Why are the teachers allowing them to enter the ground dressed in that manner? Apart from that, you will observe that all sports, inter house and inter school would have loud music systems blaring some of the most disgusting music and many of the children could be seen gyrating to the songs.
Again, I would like to know why are the teachers and head teachers allowing the disc jockeys to play that type of music and is it important for a sound system to be present?
On Thursday 02nd October, 2014, the Uitvlugt Community ground was the venue for one of the school’s inter house sports and from where I reside, the music could be heard playing loudly non-stop. I assume that the sound system is there for periodic announcements of the sports and entertainment when there is a break in the sports, but that is not the case.
Most of them attending leave their home with the understanding that they are going to view the sports. Sadly, that is not the case. The sound system has their attention and some could be seen consuming alcohol, smoking cigarettes or illegal drugs. In many cases there would be fights. There are many disagreeable men with money who attend just to see which little girl they could snare. How much longer will this lawlessness be allowed to continue?
