It was long in coming and when the Police finally delivered their version of the
Gymkhana to Berbice, it was fantastic stuff.
The Berbice version of the annual Police Gymkhana Event was held last Sunday at the Area H ground in Rose Hall Town, Corentyne. When it was over there was not one unsatisfied patron who thronged the arena to witness some daring and acrobatic displays put on by members of the Guyana police force and riders from the Guyana Dirt Biking association.
A large crowd was on hand as Berbicians came out in their numbers to witness the displays that were a feature of the day. Patrons were able to see policing with a difference as some of the performers and performances were impressive.
From the 10:00am start with the Bikers warming up, those in attendance were assured that they were in for a treat. The gymkhana, which is a regular feature on the force’s calendar of activities, featured the various departments performing stunts and other daring demonstrations.
The dogs and horses were on display in various routines. There were the physical displays and a number of novelty events including drills, musical chairs, foot drills, late for work, Lime and spoon, needle and thread and three legged race.
The bikers and the horse jumping through the fire and the dogs search and finding guns and drugs were some of the highlights on the days programme. The police military band also performed for the crowd.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
