Statistician Charwayne Walker continues with his ‘Did you know’ series, revisiting important facts in Guyana’s football history.
Did you know that English Soccer Team, Hull City, scored 25 goals when they visited Guyana in May 1973? The English second division team started their Guyana Campaign by demolishing Linden 7-Nil at Mackenzie Sports Club. Berbice then suffered a 12-Nil thrashing at Burnham’s Park in New Amsterdam.
The humiliation continued when the English Boys drubbed the Ken Gibbs led National Squad 5- Nil at GCC Bourda. Hull last game in the land of the majestic Kaieteur ended in a one all draw with the Caribbean Team at GCC Bourda.
