A father of three is dead after a mining pit caved-in yesterday in the Potaro area, Region Eight.
Dead is Rocklyn Solomon, 32, of Paradise Village, West Coast Berbice.
According to the police, Solomon and other miners were working in a pit at Princeville, Potaro River, when the walls caved in.
Solomon was trapped beneath the mud. His body was recovered and taken to the Mahdia Hospital, Region Eight, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police yesterday said that they are investigating the case.
According to the man’s mother, Sharon Solomon, she received the news via a phone call.
Rocklyn Solomon was a former student of the New Amsterdam Technical Institute and a former policeman.
