Trinidad and Tobago-based Guyanese duo, Lionel D’Andrade and Kelvin Johnson occupied the first two podium
spots in two 5km Road Races, alternating the top spot as they prepare for this weekend’s Palo Seco 5km Road Race.
In the first race, the Vital Corner 5km road race, D’Andrade won with Kelvin Johnson in second while the order was reversed later in the day at the Republic Day Newsday 5k Classic where the duo dominated again with Johnson finishing in 15:59 and D’Andrade following closely behind in 16:16. Trinidad’s Sherwyn Stapleton (16:26) was third.
“I am taking a rest for the upcoming October road races. The first road race is the Palo Seco 5k scheduled for this weekend. I am still doing a lot of speed work and mileage. There are a lot of upcoming races so I have to be ready,” D’Andrade told Kaieteur Sport.
