Former national basketball player and athlete, overseas-based Guyanese Shawn Semple,
who is a regular visitor home, continues to exhibit his love for country. The multi-talented Semple recently donated a set of football equipment to the Hearts of Oak Masters Football Club (HOMFC) and secondary schools in the New Amsterdam/Canje catchment area.
Among the items handed over were footballs and shin pads through the kind courtesy of Semple and Denzil Peters. The schools that benefitted are Canje Secondary School (CSS), Berbice High School (BHS), Vryman’s Erven Secondary School, (VESS), Berbice Educational Institute (BEI), New Amsterdam Multilateral Secondary School (NAMS) and Tutorial Academy Secondary School (TASS). Each school was given 12 shin pads among other items.
President of the Hearts Of Oak Masters Football Club, Neil ‘Grizzly’ Humphrey expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation on behalf of the HOMFC and the schools to their benefactors for their support over the years.
