One year after its inauguration, the Corskeld Trackers Cycle Club (CTCC) of Corriverton, will stage a cycle race, this Sunday, over a distance of 45 miles, to commemorate its anniversary and the top riders out of the region are expected to participate.
The riders will pedal off at 08:30hrs from M and V. Ganga Online Shopping and General Store, Springlands, Corriverton, proceed to Hack’s Rice Mill, # 35 Village before returning to the place of origin.
Already, the top riders from the region have conformed to the registration process and among those expected to battle for honours are Andrea ‘Padlock’ Green, Ray Millington, the Crawford cousins Romallo and Juban, Elijah Brijadar, Andrew Hicks, Wasim Hassnu, Audrel Ross, Edmond Francis, Dwight Holder, Keith Griffith, Gary Benjamin, Turhan Harris, Syborne Fernandez and Nishane Jaundoo among others.
Female cyclist Marcia Dick is also expected to be among the contestants while novice riders will compete among themselves where the first three finishers will be awarded prizes. There will also be prizes for the first three finishers in the juvenile category.
Meanwhile, President of the CTCC, Zamad Djmier, said that the first year was indeed a success and he intends to work assiduously to elevate it to the top echelons of the sport over the coming years.
He lauded the support received from the business community which he regards as the catalyst to the continued development of the club and its members. The club has grown and has seen an improved membership of some 27 cyclists, the largest of any single club in Berbice, over that period.
