The nude body of a woman of African descent was fished out of the Atlantic Ocean just off the Kitty seawall yesterday afternoon.
From all indications, the woman appeared to have died less than a day prior to the discovery of her body.
“The body was fresh, just lil swelling and she two hands start peeling,” a source who had a close up look at the body told Kaieteur News.
This newspaper understands that the body was discovered around 16:00 hours by joggers after it was washed in with the tide.
Scores of persons, including curious motorists flocked the area to get a glimpse of the body.
Police have so far not been able to identify any marks of violence.
There are no recent missing person reports of anyone fitting the woman’s description, although enquires were made by relatives of at least one woman who disappeared several weeks ago.
The body was taken to the Lyken Funeral Parlour where it awaits identification prior to a post mortem examination.
