Host Everest Cricket Club defeated Enterprise by 10 wickets in a 20-over U-13
fixture Saturday.
Enterprise were bowled out for 71 in 15 overs after they were inserted by the home team who replied with 72 without lost in 14 overs. Opener Asif Rahaman led with 21 while Navindra Premchand scored 17.
The visitors were reduced to 23-4 before Rahaman and Narine shared in a fifth wicket stand of 35 to steady the innings somewhat. Rahaman timed the ball well and stroked two fours while Narine hit a solitary boundary. But their dismissal, within two runs of each other, triggered a collapse as no other batsman managed to reach double figures. Pacer Saif Mohamed snared 4-15, Zecharian Mootoo 2-14 and Sachin Premchand 2-2.
Everest openers Yeudistir Persaud and Premchand entertained the small gathering with an array of shots on both sides of the pitch. Persaud belted three fours and faced 35 balls in his top score of 32, while man of the match Premchand who ended unbeaten on 27 reached the boundary twice. Everest received a trophy. The game was organized as part of the club 100th anniversary.
