Dear Editor,
Is it reasonable to ask that the organisation/s sending out its people to enter the privacy of our premises to enquire whether our names are on the voters’ list, be decent enough to place an announcement in the print or electronic media?
People are just turning up in our yards asking questions. When approached, I enquired of the two people who they were working for and one person replied – GECOM. I then asked to be shown some identification. This could not be produced. I promptly asked them to leave my yard. This activity is maliciously open yet pompously secretive.
I sincerely hope that all the stakeholders take note of this exercise and I also hope that certain voters’ names are not being switched around in an effort to disenfranchise them.
Gecom openly distanced itself from the Region 1 exercise. Could some statement be put out in the public domain so that people could be advised on their rights?
