The Tucville ground was inundated with water but this did not prevent more than
10 footballers, training for possible selection to the 2014 Caribbean Cup qualification in St. Kitts & Nevis, from engaging in stiff training sessions, yesterday afternoon.
The players worked under the watchful eyes of newly appointed National Coach, former goalkeeper, Denzil ‘Hunky Brains’ Thompson, Assistant Coach Mark Charles and Development Coach, Naitram Tudy Persaud.
Kaieteur Sport sought to elicit a comment from Mr. Thompson but was told that he was not permitted to comment on any aspect of the programme unless he was authorized by the hierarchy of the sport.
A formal request to the Technical Development Officer, Lyndon France, proved unsuccessful as he told us that coaching matters are dealt with by the coach. Nevertheless, we were able to ascertain that the team departs Guyana September 1.
When quizzed on the composition of the team, Thompson would only say that he was currently evaluating the players in order to ascertain the best to represent Guyana. Up to the time this reporter left the venue, the players were engaged in warm up exercises.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
