Guyanese born Delroy Tyrrell represented Trinidad and Tobago this year at the 2014 Goodwill Swim Meet and aided the Twin Island Republic to emerge champions. Delroy, competing in his second consecutive Goodwill Swim Meet, copped the Third place overall for the Boys 11-12 age group.
He competed in ten individual events and three relays. He swam 2:46.16 in the Individual Medley and secured a bronze medal; Silver Medal in the 50 Fly (33.72), Silver in the 200 Free (2.23.99) and Bronze in the 100 Fly (1:14.38).
Delroy also helped the team to three gold medals in the 4×100 Medley, 4×100 Free Style and 4×50 free style. The Tidal Wave Aquatics swimmer, coached by Hazel and Chabeth Haynes, is satisfied with his performance and thanks God, his coaches and parents for their support.
He plans to continue working assiduously to make the Trinidad Carifta Swim Team for next year which will be held in Barbados. Delroy is the son of Drs. Fitzroy and Jianna Tyrrell. He has one sibling, Dominic Tyrrell.
