Donates football gear to young footballers
The Alphonsos are popular residents of Berbice, having contributed to almost every
sector in the Ancient County. That tradition was upheld when 10 year-old Zack Alphonso, recently back home on holiday, presented five pairs of football boots to several of his pre teen colleagues.
He made the presentation during training sessions at the Hearts of Oak Masters 17th Annual Teach Them Young Football Camp conducted at three venues, the Scott Church Ground, the Prison Officers Sports Club and the All Saints Primary School.
Alphonso resides in the USA and regularly visits his homeland. He is the son of former national youth player, businessman, Kurt Alphonso and grandson of former President of the Guyana Football Association, businessman and former Mayor, Errol Alphonso.
Several other family members including his great uncles and cousins represented Guyana in football and other sports disciplines. He is hoping to start representing Guyana soon.
