Under the theme “Traditional Embodiment for Amerindian Development” Amerindian Heritage Month will commence with an interfaith service at the Umana Yana, Kingston on 31st, August.
The Amerindian Affairs Ministry yesterday unveiled the calendar of events for this year’s annual Heritage Month celebrations which features a range of activities to reflect the life of Guyana’s first people. The programme will include several cultural items from the nine Amerindian tribes of Guyana and President Donald Ramotar is expected to deliver the feature address while Amerindian Affairs Minister Pauline Sukhai will give brief remarks.
Organizers expect in excess of 500 persons to be in attendance. Tickets will be sold at the gate and will cost $200 each.
