Jamaica and Haiti took all three points on Tuesday last when the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) inaugural Women’s Caribbean Cup final rounds started at the Ato Bolton Stadium, in Trinidad and Tobago.
Jamaica defeated Puerto Rico 4-1 while Haiti beat Bermuda 5-1. Jamaica was on the score sheet in the 3rd minute of the game from the penalty spot taken by Donnakay Henry, however, Laura Suarez levelled the score in the 25th minute for Puerto Rico Jamaica was not happy with that and in the 43th minute went 2-1 courtesy of a goal from Shakira Duncan who completed her double in the 47th minute to end the game 4-1.
Haiti scored their first goal in the 8th minute when Marie Yves Dina Jean Pierre scored. Next was Lindsay Zullo in the 38th and Monocheka Pierre Louis in the 40th minute bringing the scores to 3-0 in the first half.
During the second half the Haitians were at it again trying desperately to break up the Bermudan defence line. This was a success in the 86th minute with a goal from Wisline Dolce, but two minutes later the game was 4-1 when Shuntae Todd scored for Bermuda in the 88th minute.
Jenerve Charles put the icing on the cake when he scored for Haiti in the 89th minute ending the game 5-1 Games continued yesterday with Group B fielding its first set of game between Antigua & Barbuda and Martinique at 5:00pm and at 7:15 hosts Trinidad and Tobago takes on St Kitts and Nevis.
