– credits success to extra lessons
Form two students attached to Morgan’s Learning Centre in Campbellville, Georgetown are among the youngest
achievers at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Examination Certification Examination (CSEC).
Josette Cameron, 14 of Richard Ishmael Secondary School and Alex Gangadin, 13, Of Christ Church Secondary School both acquired Grade Ones at Principles of Accounts.
The young pupils noted that their performance at CSEC can be accredited to the encouragement and additional tutoring, they acquired at the Centre.
The students said that their lessons teacher, Orin Morgan inspired them to do their best.
Although she had no intention of writing Principles of Accounts at CSEC, Josette Cameron said that her teacher inspired the confidence in her that she could succeed. The youngster described her CSEC experience as “quite interesting.”
“Sir Morgan worked with me and sometimes he pushed me really hard but he told me that I could do it and I did.”
“My experience was very interesting because a lot of the stuff I learnt about accounting at lessons, I was taught at school,” the student added.
Her father, Joel Cameron lauded the teachers for their motivation, patience and positive approach in preparing the students for CSEC.
He said that the extra lessons his daughter acquired via the institute, paved the way for her success.
The parent noted that Mr. Morgan is the architect, and pioneer of his daughter’s academic development.
“She has been with the institute since form one and I am happy about the progress she has made. I am especially thankful to her teachers here at the Centre, who worked with her to help her achieve at CSEC,” he added.
Alex Gangadin has been attending the institute for the last six months. He told Kaieteur news that his formula for success included hard work, sacrifice and studying late at nights.
“It was hard but Sir worked with us to ensure we came out successful. I would like to say special thanks to Sir. Morgan.
When I first came to the lessons he assessed my work to see my strong and weak points. Then he worked with me and encouraged me to write Accounts at CSEC.”
Other young CSEC performers, who attend classes at the Lot 24 John Street, Campbellville residence, include, Omalia Thorington of Bishops High School, Kristina Kanhai of St Roses High School, Kevin Bond of Central High School, Brundon Persaud and Nicholas Roopchand.
The teenagers, all form three students, achieved Grade Ones and distinctions at Principles of Accounts.
One of the students noted, that in addition to school work, they would be treated to dinners and other social events.
“I believe it is just another way of encouraging us to do our best at school and become well rounded individuals.”
Mr. Morgan, the Centre’s founder, expressed satisfaction at his students’ performance. He said that the Centre, which was established ten years ago, gives students the opportunity to realize their fullest potential.
“Once we recognize the students have the potential we give them a chance … We are just taking ordinary students and giving them the opportunity to do extraordinary things.”
He said that the institute offers supplementary classes to Secondary School students from forms one to six. The courses include Mathematics, English Language, Spanish, Geography, Economics and all other subject areas offered at CSEC.
