The Unity for the Nation Organisation 3-A-Side Small Goal Knockout Road Side
Football Competition has received some sponsorship. The month long competition which is set to kick off tomorrow is billed to be played on the lawns of Fordy’s Subletta Catering at the Junction of Winkle Road and Tucber Park, New Amsterdam, Berbice beginning at 14:00hrs. The final is slated for September 14th.
On Thursday last the principals of the Ramnarace Construction Company of 61 Bristol Scheme, Vryheid Village, West Canje, Berbice presented some trophies for the successful staging of the competition. Hazel also received a number of footballs from the Children of Promise Orphanage in Smythfield New Amsterdam among other sponsors.
The activity is being coordinated by Physical Fitness Trainer Community Leader, Activist and sports enthusiast Eli Hazel who is the founder of the group. So far over 20 teams drawn from areas of West Berbice, Corentyne, East and West Canje, New Amsterdam and East Bank Berbice have all indicated their interest in being part of the activity.
Teams are expected to consist of five players each with three playing at a time.
Attractive monetary and other prizes will be available for the top three teams as well as the outstanding individual performers. The winning team will receive $50,000; second place $25,000 while third collects $13,000.
