Competitions Secretary for the Boyce/Jefford Classic, Shanomae Blackmore (left) receives the sponsorship cheque from Wartsila’s Human Resources Assistant, Jayana Butts yesterday.
Wartsila’s Guyana Operation continued its relationship with the Boyce/Jefford Track and Field Classic V yesterday when the energy company empowered the Management Committee for the meet that will be held this weekend in Linden.
Wartsila has been supportive of the Boyce/Jefford Classic from the inception and has been one of the major supporters of athletics in Guyana. Contracts Manager, Arron Fraser, who won the national 800m junior championship title in 1996 at the Enmore Ground, has pioneered support for the development of the sport in Guyana.
As a former national athlete, Fraser’s desire is to see athletics return to its heyday, and that can only happen if competition like the Boyce/Jefford Classic continues to emerge.
Competitions Secretary for the Boyce/Jefford Classic, Shanomae Blackmore, thanked Wartsila for their continued support before receiving the sponsorship cheque from Human Resources Assistant, Jayana Butts.
