The Guyana Revenue Authority has secured several judgments against defaulting taxpayers for outstanding tax (PAYE), penalty and interest; and Value Added Tax, penalty and interest.
According to the tax agency, the Enforcement Officer of the Legal Services Division pursued these matters vigorously in an effort to collect the State’s revenue.
In light of the foregoing, the GRA is informing the public that several taxpayers have liquidated the judgment sum in full, thereby bringing these matters to an end.
Some persons owe as much as $32M and the GRA stated in a release to the media that this non-compliance with Court Orders will not be tolerated and the agency will continue to vigorously pursue all outstanding judgments by way of Levy, Garnishee and Distress Proceedings and other forms of execution.
The GRA stated that it remains committed to collecting the State’s Revenue and will take all necessary steps to ensure that defaulting taxpayers comply with Orders of Court.
