Promoter Colin Mack was rushed to a city hospital early yesterday morning after crashing his Nissan Bluebird along Homestretch Avenue. A relative of the promoter told Kaieteur News that the accident occurred around 05:00 hours.
He said that the man is alleged to have broken his shoulder and sustained head injuries. Reports are that Mack was returning from shopping at a city market and was heading home, travelling east along Homestretch Avenue. No one could say exactly how the accident occurred, but other drivers on the scene speculated that Mack could have fallen asleep at the wheel and swerved into an earth wire attached to an electricity pole.
The wire was ripped from the ground and the vehicle reportedly toppled several times, before ending up on its top.
A friend of Mack, who only gave his name as James, said that Mack was recovering well at the Mercy Hospital.
