The Guyana Badminton Association High Powered 11-Member Badminton Team will be attending The Caribbean Regional Badminton Championships referred to as CAREBACO in Jamaica August 9-16, 2014.
Last year in Puerto Rico the team brought home 8-medals which included 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze. The Guyana Team has medaled at every international tournament in the last seven years including the Caribbean, Pan American, Suriname International and South American Championships.
The Team Members who have been in intense training for the past few weeks, are: Narayan Ramdhani (Sunburst Sponsored Player – Under-17 & Open), Priyanna Ramdhani (Under-13 & 15), Jonathan Mangra (Under-17), Ambika Ramraj (Under-17), Ronald Chang Yuen (Under-19), Abosaide Cadogan (Under-13), Christopher Persaud (Open). The Manager/Coach is Gokarn Ramdhani.
The GBA would like to thank the following sponsors who have made it possible for the team to attend this Championship, Continental Group of Companies, National Sports Commission, E-Networks, Neville Osman Investments, Republic Bank, Woodpecker Products, Demerara Bank, Dr. Philip DaSilva, Dr. & Mrs. Yesu Persaud, GBTI, Hand in Hand Insurance Company, Rubis Gas Station Bel Air, General Equipment, Farm Supplies Limited, Décor & Gift Gallery and Fitness Express.
The GBA further stated that they are looking forward to many more companies coming on board to support Guyana’s champions as it takes a lot for them to stay on top. Team Guyana left for Jamaica early this morning.
