Specialist overcame Mix Up and Strikers to win the semi final of the Deon Carter Birth
Anniversary Dominoes tournament which was contested recently at Gaulding Place, South Rumiveldt.
Ken Wald led with 17 and Mark Rodrigues scored 16 in Specialist’s total of 81 games to finish ahead of Mix Up, 79 and Strikers, 71. Mark Wiltshire scored the maximum 18 while Gilbert Mendonca made 15 for Mix Up; Carl Richardson scored 16 for Strikers.
The final was contested last night at the said venue with Specialist, Mix Up and Gangster who drew the bye battling for the top prize of $200,000. The runner-up team collected $100,000 and third place $50,000. The first female player to share a love and the most valuable player were also rewarded.
Meanwhile, RRT of Regent and Light Streets and Industrial Supplies of Albert and Sixth Streets have thrown their support behind the competition. Yesterday both entities donated an undisclosed sum to Secretary of the Georgetown Dominoes Association (GDA) Mark Wiltshire. Sales Associate of RRT Sabita Edwards and Accounts Clerk Thelisha Chase of Industrial Supplies both said they happy to be part of the competition while Wiltshire thanked them for their input.
