He had represented Guyana with distinction as a football player in the right wing position and was a member of what pundits feel was the best team to have represented Guyana during the mid eighties.
He hung up his boots ages ago yet his exploits are still the central topic of discussion among football pundits.
His feats are relegated to the history books and so too will Trevor Maxwell who drew his last breath Monday morning at his North American home.
He was 52 years old. Former National Coach, Lennox Arthur, broke the sad news to Kaieteur Sport and said that Maxwell was a player of exceptional quality. He represented Western Tigers FC and also served as the Captain of the team. He was later called to national duties on the team selected for the Olympics qualifiers in Mexico.
“He played in the right wing position and was exceptionally fast,” reminisced Arthur.
He also said that the late ball weaver possessed excellent dribbling skills. Arthur expressed sadness at the loss and extended sincere condolences to the dead footballer’s family, friends and those similarly affected. Kaieteur Sport joins in expressing similar sentiments.
