Thirty-two year old Chandanie Das succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC)’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) around 10:00hrs yesterday, almost three days after she was involved in an accident on the Annandale Public Road, Essequibo.
According to reports, Das, of La Union, Essequibo was heading north along the Annandale Public Road in a motor vehicle along with Poonadai Das around 23:10 hrs on Saturday last when she was reportedly “blinded by the lights of an approaching vehicle.”
A police source said that the former Courts Manager (Essequibo Branch) collided head on with the other vehicle before ending up in a nearby trench.
The woman sustained injuries to her head, neck and one of her lungs. She was rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital and later transferred to the GPHC where she succumbed.
Poonadai Das and the driver of the other vehicle are patients at the Suddie Hospital.
