An Andrew Hooper led combined team of Rising Sun Judo and Alpha MMA bulldozed their opposition in a clinical display to claim all but 2 medals that were up grabs in the Grappling/Submission category at the 2014 annual Best of the Best Martial Arts tournament held at the National Gymnasium last Sunday.
It was the first time that the sister clubs attempted to compete at such a forum locally and they did not disappoint.
Team Captain Andrew Hooper remarked, “We came here to dominate and show everyone that we are the best, it doesn’t matter if it is Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Submission Grappling…we have the best grapplers and instructors period, also we would like to thank the organisers for pulling off a good tourney and thanks too to our supporters.”
The results were as follows: Under-145lbs: 1st place Andrew Hooper, 2nd Corwin D’Anjou, 3rd King Cameron.
Under-165lbs: 1st place Randy Phillips, 2nd J. Benjamin. Ladies Open: 1st place Yara Edmond, 2nd Selena Yong, 3rd Leah Hing.
Men’s Open-weight: 1st place Randy Phillips, 2nd Rayon Yaw, 3rd Kevin Persaud.
