Karamchand Seetal, of Lot 263 Company Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and was granted $40,000 bail on a charge of Unlawful Wounding. He was charged for wounding his acquaintance.
The police claim that on July 22, last, at Ekereku Landing, Cuyuni River, Seetal wounded Donald Jackson also known as ‘Rasta Man.’ Seetal pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecution spearheaded by Inspector Michael Grant did not brief the court on the details of the crime. He offered no objections to Seetal being allowed his pretrial liberty.
Addressing the court, the accused stated that he had no prior charges or convictions.
The victim was also present in court.
The Chief Magistrate granted bail and placed Seetal on a peace bond pending the outcome of the trial. The case was transferred to the Kamarang Magistrate’s Court and is set to be called before Magistrate Allan Wilson September 14.
