Another resignation rocked the basketball community this week when former Ravens player and Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) all-star guard, Lugard Mohan resigned from Guyana Basketball Officials’ Council (GBOC) as its Interim Chairman.
Following his International Basketball Federation (FIBA) referees’ certification some years ago in the United States, Mohan formed GBOC, to standardise officiating in Guyana. Former FIBA referee, Cecil Chin gave up the Chairmanship of GBOC last year.
President of the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA), Michael Singh, tendered his resignation from “all basketball” last week.
Below is the full text of Mohan’s resignation letter that was sent to the President of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) President, Nigel Hinds.
“Dear Mr. Hinds,
I am writing to inform you, I am resigning from the position as Interim Chairman of Guyana Basketball Officials Council (GBOC) and as a basketball referee with immediate effect.
I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere gratitude to you and everyone that assisted me, before and during the period I was an official of GBOC. I have learnt a great deal; this experience has helped me to develop in my professional career and as a human kind. Basketball has allowed me to grow into the man I am today.
I wish you continued success in the development of basketball in Guyana. I know the task ahead is a tedious one, and can sometimes be stressful, but there is no doubt that you possess the shoulders, patience and knowledge to get the job done.
Again, I appreciate and I am thankful for the support, advice, guidance and patience that were afforded to me.
Thank you!
Respectfully,
Lugard Mohan
