President of Lusignan Golf Club, David Mohamad expects keen competition today as over 40 Golfers will Tee-off at 12:30pm when the Wartsila sponsored competition gets underway at the Lusignan Golf Course.
Wartsila has a history of great prizes and incentives for players, and a great happy-hour session at the end of play. But it is the motivation to win that produces the excitement as the players eagerly tee-off. Both Vijay Deo and Archbishop Dr Philbert London, the winners of the two previous Wartsila Tournaments, are registered to compete in this weekend’s action.
Wartsila sponsored two previous tournaments on June 15, and November 16, 2013. Winners were, respectively, seasoned player Vijay Deo, handicap 8, and current Club Vice President, freshman Archbishop Dr Philbert London, handicap 28. On those occasions Vijay Deo returned a gross of 75 giving him a net 67, while Dr London returned a gross of 92 giving him a net 64.
In addition to all the other Golfers, who are striving for the Champion’s cup, the two previous winners are looking forward to even better performance than previously.
These days it seems the competition is so keen that inclement weather hardly discourages the Golfers. Club President Mohamad said, “The course is in good condition. The ground staff are working assiduously to ensure that despite the days of rain, the ground would be in a condition that makes play still refreshing.”
Wartsila representative Mr Arron Fraser cited that, “Wartsila is pleased to be associated with and to support the LGC, especially because we recognize the Golf programme in Guyana is one of the better organized and properly run sports.”
In addition, Mr Wesslin Mattie of Wartsila, who is an ardent golfer and who introduced Wartsila to sponsoring a Tournament for the LGC, had at the start expressed his appreciation for Wartsila being called upon to contribute to the sport in Guyana.
