The Buxton/Friendship Community Centre Ground is more noted for competitive
football matches but tonight, residents of that, and adjoining communities will be treated to punches in bunches when the Guyana Boxing Association stages the second edition of ‘Nuff Cuff Injection’ at the aforementioned venue tonight.
Last night, three top amateur boxers from St Lucia arrived in Guyana last night and are expected to be the highlight of the card. These boxers, welterweight, Ron Bastian and middleweights, Arthur Langeleire and Malinda St Clair will match gloves with Guyanese Eon Bancroft, Dennis Thomas and Theresa London, respectively.
Both Thomas and Bancroft had defeated their opponents in a goodwill card at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) in February last. Both fights were highly competitive and were so close that GBA organizers responded to request by both St Lucians for rematches. Tonight’s battles should be scorching hot.
London was to have fought St Clair in the latter boxer’s hometown early March but was engaged in national duties in Chile. St Clair was incensed and had promised to dish out a sound thrashing on London when they eventually would have faced off. Tonight’s encounter would give St Clair the perfect opportunity to back her chat. Twelve other bouts will support the aforementioned three and fans would not want to miss out on the action. Bell time is 19:00hrs sharp.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
