The murder trial of the father and son who are on trial for the murder of a Corentyne farmer at Hogstye, Corentyne back in 2011 is continuing in the Berbice High Court.
On trial are Khrishna called ‘John’, 50, of Alness and Letter Kenny, Corentyne, and his son, Romell Krishna, 24, of Alness Corentyne Berbice. They are appearing before Justice Brassington Reynolds and a mixed jury for murdering Shawn Fraser, between July 27 and July 28, 2011, at Hogstye Back dam, Corentyne, Berbice.
The men are being represented by Attorneys at Law Kim Kyte John and Murseline Bacchus. The state is being represented by Prosecutor Attorney at Law Renita Singh.
The opening address had revealed that on July 27, Shawn Fraser and his brother Audwyn Bindah, called ‘Audwyn Fraser’ of 11 Adventure Farm Corentyne who are cattle and rice farmers, had left their home to attend to their rice field at the Hogstye back dam.
On their way they saw three men Krishna, called ‘John’, his son Romell Krishna and one Bobo plowing with a tractor on a cross dam.
After the brothers had completed their work they were on their way out when they were attacked and shot by the three men.
Audwyn was rushed to the Port Mourant and then New Amsterdam Hospital. Shawn Fraser’s body was picked up and taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A post mortem examination was later conducted on the body of Shawn Fraser at the New Amsterdam hospital by Dr. Nehaul Singh, which gave the cause of death as perforated lung due to penetrating wounds to chest and compound fracture of the skull.
Testifying so far was Raquel Fraser who related to the court that she had identified the body of her brother during the post mortem examination and Kim Providence related to the court a series of events that took place during the day including from the time the brothers left home to when she learnt of the incident.
Also taking the witness stand were police Detectives Corporal Andrew Ward and Detective Sergeant Gilbert Ross who both testified to the roles they played during the investigation.
